Attractions The most important attraction is the festivals of San Fermin on July 7th.
The central area of Navarre is an extensive range of hills and precipices with fields of cereals and grapevines that form a transitional between the mountains and the coast. The region is formed by two ancient regions with similar climates: to the east lies that called Navarra Media Oriental and to the west Tierra Estrella whose capitals are Traflla and Estella.
The Camino Santiago crosses the Media Oriental from east to west and is filled with villas and locations that follow the traditional route of the pilgrims. Although the artistry and architecture makes up the most notable features of this area, there are also rivers, gorges, dams and other areas of outstanding natural beauty.
In this region you'll also find indications of the historical kingdom of Navarra and others reflecting the medieval with the Castillian Muslims with preserved fortifications, Roman and gothic style churches along with numerous palaces and other grand dwellings.
The northern border of the territory is marked by the southern mountain ranges of the Pyrenees and crossed by the Ebro, Ega, Arga and the Aragon. Rainfall amounts to 500-700mm annually and the temperature ranges from 5C to 22C, a typically continental climate. Highways cross the area from Pamplona, Logroño, Zaragoza and Jaca and connect with numerous local roads that make the whole area very easy to navigate by car.
YESA is a small (300 inhabitants) and quiet Pyrenean town located in the Navarrese, on the feet of the Mountain range of Leyre where you can enjoy nature, swim in waters of Embalse that give their name and visit monuments of in the surrounding area.
Excursions: Monastery of Leyre, Castle of Javier, Foces de Lumbier and Arbayun, Sos del Rey Catolico (lovely medieval town), Santa Maria de Sangüesa and Valles de Roncal and Salazar.
Activities: water sports in the Yesa Yesea, bathe in its thermal waters in autumn, horse riding, etc. |
